cinnamon bun saturday


Last night the girls and I went to see their friend perform in a school production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. I am so glad they love the theater as I do! We recently discovered that there are some incredible plays produced by some of the schools in our area. It's an inexpensive way to see talented and creative interpretations of theater. A few weeks ago we went to Hairspray, and tonight we are going to see Legally Blonde. We didn't have a movie night, so I thought I'd share this special treat of a breakfast.


I have wanted to make cinnamon buns for a long time but it always seemed like a lot of trouble - mixing, kneading, rising, kneading, rising... But I found this recipe that calls for using a bread maker which makes it much easier. It does require some forethought, and it's not the kind of thing I'll do every weekend, but it's a nice recipe to have on hand.
I made them in the afternoon because to see about all of this in the morning would be too much. I wrapped a few to save for the morning, and froze the rest of the dough, as she instructs. We agree that they taste better made the day of, or the next morning, but are still pretty darn good using the frozen method.

The buns that were not frozen were prettier and more uniform looking, like this one.
